Dr Monique Marais is a qualified Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist. She qualified in 1999 from the University of Pretoria, and after completing her internship and community service, she worked in the United Kingdom as a senior medical Officer in General Medicine and Emergency Medicine. She then returned to specialize in internal medicine at the University of Stellenbosch and qualified as a specialist physician in 2008. She worked in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Unit at Tygerberg Hospital from 2008 until the end of 2011. During this time she obtained her sub-specialization in Gastroenterology. She is still involved at Tygerberg Hospital where she performs ERCPs on a weekly basis.
She is currently in Private Practice mainly at N1 City Hospital. She also performs endoscopy at the Advanced Durbanville Surgical Centre.
